It is now possible to have a very effective online music lesson with both parties utilizing a fairly recent model computer, a high quality webcam/microphone and a high speed internet connection. During hundreds of hours of online instruction Bruce Haag has mastered and streamlined this new medium, enabling dozens of his private brass students to smoothly interact with him even though most live thousands of miles away. Recent advances in technology have yielded very good audio and video quality with minimal hindrances. Both parties view a very clear, full screen image.

THE LESSONS
Regardless of one’s abilities or the problems one is currently facing, Bruce’s time-tested brass teaching techniques will bring solid improvement! Bruce’s many years of study with some of the world’s best, coupled with years of performance experience in some of the most demanding situations, all attribute to the success he has had in his 31 years of brass teaching. From trumpet to tuba, and in every conceivable style of music, Bruce’s students have benefited greatly from his teaching.Each lesson is custom tailored to address the needs of the player, with emphasis upon building the physique needed to play correctly and easily. Most players suffer from a lack of basic physical development, the result of not knowing what and how to practice. One great player once stated: “Without technical proficiency, there can be no music!” This is very true, so after a student’s basics are set, more time can then be devoted to solos, musical studies and performance pieces, without the usual frustrations and difficulties.
The lessons will address the following areas:
- Upper and lower register development
- Flexibility and intervals
- Technical studies, tonguing, slurring
- Accuracy development
- Strength and stamina development
- Breathing exercises
- Breath control
- Jazz and classical phrasing, musicality
- Classical literature
- Music reading skills
- Music theory
- Jazz improvisation (optional)
- Preparation for auditions and performances
Bruce will guide you in setting up your webcam and Skype account if you wish. A high quality webcam will be provided for you on loan or you may wish to purchase your own. Bruce will help you select a suitable model.
LESSON RATES
$100 per month for either an hour lesson every two weeks or a half hour lesson every week. Payment can be made by personal check or PayPal.
